When you work for a bridal company, the news of an engagement from one of your own is always a big deal. Last year, the company’s group chat got an exciting message from our fulfilment manager, Becca: her then-boyfriend had proposed in Paris. (Dreamy, we know!) Since then, lunch room conversations consisted heavily of wedding talk. You'd think the team might get sick of talking about weddings, but it seems to be quite the opposite.
Becca and David are the success story of a family member playing matchmaker (how rare that a self-proclaimed cupid is actually right?!) David had been a friend of Becca’s stepbrother for quite awhile, but they were never in the same place until Becca's stepmom arranged a dinner they both attended, despite reluctance. Becca says, “I was automatically intrigued by him. Not only was he good looking but he was so smart, sweet, and easy to talk to. By the end of the night he was about to head out and I choose to leave at the same time.” After that, David got a hold of Becca’s number and the rest is, essentially, history. They’ve been together 6 years.
They married at Bridges Restaurant on Vancouver’s bustling Granville Island. Though they saw 2 other venues, Bridges was always their first choice — “We love Granville Island. Right by the water and with a beautiful view, what more could you ask for?” We asked Becca what the inspiration or overall concept for their wedding was, and she said: “We really wanted it to be a romantic but chill wedding. Keeping it rather simple, with lots of flowers and candles to make it cozy and inviting. Funny enough it rained the day of our wedding and I'm not mad about it. It gave our wedding a moody/cozy vibe which I love! Also it's Vancouver... odds are it's going to rain so I was mentally prepared.” A handful of us co-workers attended the wedding, and we can attest: it was beautiful, cozy, and intimate, but most importantly, Becca & David looked sooo in love.
Becca wore what is now known as the Alma gown, however, a little known fact is that she actually designed the gown specifically for her wedding, and it was later added to the 2020 collection because everyone agreed it was such a beautiful dress.
Take a peak at Becca & David’s wedding photos to see that rain on your wedding day makes for dreamy photos. And as they say, rain on your wedding day brings good luck because a wet knot only grows stronger.
